I came across this article while browsing CSR articles in Google news, I decided to read up on AECOM because I have never heard of this company before. For those of you who don’t know AECOM Technology Corporation is a leading provider of professional technical and management support services for public and private sector clients. AECOM works out of more than 130 countries around the world.
AECOM was named one of the world’s most ethical companies by the Ethisphere Institute for the second straight year. Reasons in the article that AECOM was awarded this award were addressing environmental challenges, keeping clients, people and partners safe in all activities, contributing time and funds to support communities and “above all” serving our clients with the highest ethical standards. All of these are very good practices of CSR, I believe that every company should practice these standards without even getting recognition for it. I feel that based on these facts AECOM shouldn’t be the most ethical company because every company should practice those CSR practices anyways.
I really wanted to see what AECOM was all about so I checked out there website. With further investigation, AECOM is socially responsible around the globe. They provide disaster relief when needed, educational support to undeveloped countries, environmental support where needed, community and charitable giving to underprivileged communities.
In conclusion AECOM deserves the Most Ethical Company award and I believe that other companies should use AECOM as a template for their CSR practices. If other companies would be more like AECOM the world would be a better place.
